I was very on the fence about whether or not I liked this subject, it's great to have the opportunity to draw from life models, and the tutors were all very enthusiastic about the subject. However, I felt the whole subject was quite poorly coordinated, it was very difficult to reach staff outside of class time including in the lead up to the essay. The essay was never discussed outside of a few very brief mentions and, even after our final results have been published, we have not received any marks or feedback. Though I'm sure the tutor running them put in a lot of effort, the lectures on the depiction of the nude through art didn't come close to the standard of art history subjects I have previously taken at uni, feeling incredibly long and as if we were being read a wikipedia page with the occasional factual inaccuracy. The actual practical classes were fairly good if you wanted to practice drawing from life, but I wish we would've been taught life drawing techniques and coached more. I would say its a fairly easy subject as long as you are interested in the content, work consistently on your visual diary, and ensure you are able to attend all classes, which in our case ran 6pm-9pm on Thursday nights (something to keep in mind as many uni events, particularly in the lead up to the end of year, run these times). Whilst this subject was okay as a break from regular studies, all in all it just felt like a breadth subject treated more as an afterthought than a something worthy of the uni putting resources into. I personally don't think it's worth the money and won't be taking another fine arts breadth.
