Reviews

French 2 follows from French 1. I had Claire as my tutor. She was simply wonderful. Grammar gets slightly more difficult. Coverage includes passe compose, Imparfait and near future. There was also a preliminary introduction to future simple & present conditional tenses. Pronouns are the most difficult aspect of French 2, namely direct (COD), indirect (COI), en and y. I found this section difficult and stumbled badly on my final exam. Nevertheless, I still managed to survive....just. fi sl result was 52 Pass.

Builds on French 1.

Pretty much the same vibe as French 1, an enjoyable way to continue studies in the language.

Having never done French before French 1, the pace of this subject was pretty good and fast, but I didn't feel like I learned as much as I did in French 1. If I recall correctly, there was a bit more on grammar rather than plain vocabulary. The small-ish class size without lectures was perfect for a subject like this. Make sure you practise with friends and at home, revise regularly, and maybe use an app like Duolingo/Babbel/whatever to help you along. Bear in mind that apps don't really teach grammar, just vocabulary. (P.S. Things have probably changed since I did this subject in semester 2, 2013. The drop-down menu only goes as far back as semester 1, 2017, so I'll select that.)

Great follow on from French 1, progressing the basics and learning with really fun additional movies and songs to assist the learning!

French 2 is fairly simple if you enjoy the language, make sure you try to expose yourself to as much french as possible, it helps :)
