Mobile Worlds is a third-year Geography intensive run in February. The subject was taught over six days (Monday to Wednesday for two weeks). I would recommend this subject to anyone remotely interested in geography, sociology or urban planning studies. It was an eye-opening class that went into depth about mobility studies - the academic and practical side - and even if you aren't a Geography major there will be something for you to engage with. We had David for all the sessions, and let me just say David Bissell is an incredible lecturer. He took the time to engage with all of us in class and directed our discussions wonderfully. Every seminar and workshop felt very thoroughly planned out, and you can tell it came from David's immense interest in the subject matter. David's research is also worth exploring if you're interested in this subject and can help you grasp what will be taught. The group fieldwork sessions were stimulating and allowed everybody to get out of the classroom and do some light ethnography around the city, something you don't normally get in an essay-based class. The seminars weren't hard to participate in, but you need to watch the lecture and take some notes on the reading beforehand, as the whole session revolves around that. It IS a 3rd year Arts subject so if you are someone who isn't into essay writing, the assessments are all written pieces (about 4000 words altogether) so I would think about that. I honestly wish this subject was longer than it was and I think that's testament enough to how much I enjoyed it! I think it's one of my top geog subjects I've taken so far.
