i absolutely loved sarah, our lecturer, and the way she delivered the content. got a h2b for this class, but i started every assignment like a night or two before (that being said, i did similar for other classes and got h1s). i'm a bit sad i didn't do that well in this class compared to how much i adored the content. i think i struggled a bit with synthesising the materials together - many of the readings are primary sources, and i don't think i went out of my way enough to understand it all. i'm sure you could do very well in this subject, though. i found a fair bit of overlap between this class and vce history at times, which certainly made it easier to understand the content. i know there were people who were a bit overwhelmed with the pace at which it was all going, but i thought it was very engaging.

The subject was alright, coming from a history major myself, however it was just not my interest in area of history. Sarah was a great lecturer and i even had her as my tutor and she was a great tutor and overall lovely person, you can tell she is passionate and knowledgable about this subject. The assignments were okay, but i feel each week was not fully unpacked enough. some of the readings were a bit boring too.

Great intro History class, but I would definitely recommend doing a bit of background reading on the Cold War since the lectures and tutorials tend to skim over a lot of key events (for example, the Cuban Missile Crisis barely even got a mention).

had prior experience with revs and y11 history which made it a bit dry at first since the content was similar but still liked the subject since the last few weeks had interesting topics that i wouldn't have learnt about. assignments were okay.. for the essay we had to choose a question from a list and the selection was quite good. exam wasn't too bad either. just hard to get a high mark depending on ur tutor (finished with a h2b) wouldn't necessarily say its a wam booster but if u put in the work it's not hard to do decent in.

I thoroughly enjoyed this subject when I took it. I went into it with a further interest in history following Revs and I wasn't disappointed. I found the lecture topics interesting, and tutorial discussion was engaging. Good as a WAM booster if you enjoy history and you're willing to put in the work.

great subject!! Good content, engaging lecturer, nice tutors. Good first year subject - will teach you lots of useful research skills.

did this cuz of experience in year 11 history, but i was quite surprised to have learnt many new things. the subject overall was pretty interesting, the part on orientalism is probably my favourite!! the assignments are not that bad, but some tutors might mark very harshly

2019 lecturer (hannah) was awful, just spent the whole time reading her notes aloud, which was not engaging. Subject was difficult to do well in and advice from tutors was vague and unhelpful. Subject was interesting in content and readings though

Content was really interesting (except maybe the week on economics), and I found the lectures really collaborative and inclusive. However, I did study most of this content briefly in high school and I feel like if you haven't, it's gonna be pretty tough to get a good grade

Great content and lectures were good, but the tutorials weren't too helpful and assignment feedback was useless
