Hi there, I am currently doing my PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science, and I am a tutor...
Reviews
I took a few HPSC subjects prior to enrolling in this one, and this felt very detached from the HPSC discipline. I didn't find the lectures to be particularly engaging and struggled with understanding how they all fitted together. The subject felt very disjointed and therefore difficult to follow and engage in the readings and assessments. Maybe it is because I have a very limited understanding of gender studies, but I felt the introductory lecture on gender was confusing to keep up with. I was quite disappointed with this subject, which was a surprise given my general enjoyment and enthusiasm towards HPSC subjects.

This is my first gender study subject, but I found it really interesting as I expected and definitely one of my favourite subjects in the uni so far! I love our lecturer, a kind and humour person who has published a book before talking about gender from a psychology perspective (her profession). I also like this subject in the way of discussing gender issues from a scientific point of view, suitable for science student who is looking to have a taste of gender study. The assignments are not very difficult (but probably hard to get a high score for people who haven't studied gender before). Although it is a 3-hour seminar lecture, the lecturer tried hard to interact with students so it's not that boring and dry. Definitely worth giving it a go:)!
