I did this subject during Covid lockdown, so bear this in mind whilst reading this review. I really wanted to enjoy Korean 2, I really liked learning the language and more about the culture. All I can say is that half of my stress during the semester was because of this subject. The was no clear communication between the tutors and subject coordinator (or at least none that I could see) which led to contradictory statements given, the assignments were often worded confusingly and my classmates and I would constantly be asking eachother what exactly they wanted us to do. I think the content itself was okay, but we sort of didn’t consolidate anything once we had learned it that one tutorial, so you will need to a study a lot to memorise everything because you most likely won’t go over it again ever. The final exam felt like a nightmare, I didn’t finish it despite studying so hard. It just felt way overloaded with questions for the amount of time given. If you enjoy learning Korean, perhaps that passion can carry you through this subject, but I think buying the textbooks and self studying might save you the stress. The tutors were all very lovely though, and I think if they can get through these organisational issues it could be a fun subject.
