I thought this class was great as a media comms major, it is a bit boring though and there is a lot of theory and culture deep-dives: so if that's up your alley then definitely do this class! There's a lot of discussion on how media connects with people and the world, and each week there's a different part of internet media that you go into (e.g. Data tracking, live-stream culture, emojis, etc). The assignments themselves were fine - we didn't get much time for the group project though (they whip it out the week after mid-sem, so there's just two weeks to research, organise and present your final idea). There's no real 'app' created, just a mockup of what it would be like to design an app (more UI UX stuff). Stevie was a fantastic tutor! They brought a really cool energy to the class that I personally really enjoyed - highly recommend them as a tutor dedicated to improving the media comms student experience. I wish I could say I took a lot out of this subject - I just don't think it was for me. Imo it's not super practical and a lot of the time you can get by with going just class to class - the readings are really interesting and help a lot with assignments though.

A great subject overall. I was intimidated by the assessments based on the handbook alone, but as you go on you realise that it's not that bad and it's actually very feasible and easy. The lectures were great and well-produced, and the tutorials were also great although I feel that 2 hours was a bit too much.

Easiest subject, chill and interesting, highly recommend if you are looking for a comms subject that is not too content heavy.

THE BEST MEDIA SUBJECT I'VE EVER DONE. Interesting lecture content, and Bjorn is a really good lecturer!! In fact, he's the best media lecturer in my uni life haha. Assignments are interesting as well. Personally, I think the group work (building the app and presentation) is the best part. Actually that depends on who you are working with, if you get good group members, it will be fun. Tutors are quite helpful too! 100% recommended.

This quickly became my favourite subject over the course of the semester. The content is interesting (the readings are alright), the assignments are pretty decent (even though the last one seems daunting it really isn't, especially if you have a good group then its a breeze) and my tutor was fantastic so that helped.

This subject is actually called Internet Communication now. The final assignment sounds pretty scary because we have to build an app, but the assignment actually involves using an existing app and there are a lot of limitations because of this. Overall, the subject is really interesting and engaging but we didn't really get much of a chance to learn about how to write a think piece (Assignment 1) or app-building (final assignment).

The lectures are ok but the lecturer can be quite repetitive in his points and his delivery is not clear in terms of using excessively fluffy words for one idea but that's arts I guess. The assessments and tutors are very engaging in bringing together what I learnt and applying it to the real world. The readings don't really matter when you start the final assessment which is a group project so that's a bonus.

Lectures are a bit of a drag and poorly structured. I had no idea what was going on so I just stopped going and did the readings on my own. The tutorials however are excellent and very engaging.
