It is probably the easiest subject among arts foundation subjects. You can learn a lot from it and the score will be fine if you study hard. I got 75 (H2A)

A very difficult subject as an arts foundation. Its really difficult to get >70, and all content are hard to understand, especially when it comes to visual arts. I really wish I took the other arts foundation subject so I didn't ruin my WAM.

Very easy arts foundation subject, and provides a good introduction to the ins and outs of essay writing, doing literature reviews and citations etc. Only take this subject if you have an interest in the arts, theatre, music, literature, creative writing or museums, otherwise you may find it a little tedious/unrelated to your degree. I would highly recommend this as an arts foundation for anybody planning on majoring in English, Creative Writing, Art history, Screen studies or Gender studies. Beth is an excellent tutor! Lectures are hit and miss - but definitely attend the lecture for giovanni's room, art history and the museum one. You also get to go on an excursion to the Grainger museum, which was a lot of fun, and you have the option of writing about it for the final essay.

Since I did this in semester 2, some of the content I encountered in this subject was kind of expected. I did this subject in conjunction with an AHIS10002 so I had like a better grasp on the knowledge given to me. I found the lectures for each week to be engaging but some weeks had lecturers that were a bit hard to understand (looking at that weird lecture on displays in museums). I found the lectures and readings on dance to be very hard to absorb. The content is arranged by: film noir, museums, dance, art history (basically just all about guernica), poetry and sonnets (I hate poetry but this was interesting due to the crude swearing), the political performance, where I had to spend money to buy the book. I would say if you had to choose a arts foundation to get this done and over with, I would still choose this over the others.

Honestly not an altogether tough subject as long as you have a background of fine arts knowledge. If not be prepared to flounder a little. Lectures ranged from either engaging or a waste of time, and readings more oft than not I found to be rather useless, but as a foundation it was alright.

Easy subject to do well in (so long as you have some interest in the arts). Subject covers wide concepts from film noir, sonnets, art history, political performances and theatre, so in this sense it can be pretty vauge. Readings are generally pretty bland (in my opinion). Different concepts are covered by different lectures, which makes every concept interesting as most lecturers put 100% into their allocated lecture. I can say that dance was (for me) the low point of the subject. Overall, a good subject if you are looking for a taste test of art, form and representation.

Wasn't at all what I expected. Really difficult for someone with no prior knowledge in theatre, art history, political protests or stuff like that. Most lectures I had no idea what was happening or what I was supposed to be learning. Tutorials made me feel like an alien in the class as only the students who already had an interest or education in these areas contributed anything meaningful. Got terrible grades as a result which was very discouraging. I really resent this subject and regret taking it. On the bright side, the lecturer who taught poetry was excellent, really passionate and engaging.

Great course and you learn a lot about different forms of art and representation from modern art to dance to literature to plays. It may be a bit far-fetched in some aspects but otherwise very interesting. Your level of analysis will definitely grow.
