Music, Mind and Wellbeing: Grade 90 (H1). This is such a wam - booster, literally you get 100% for 50% of the discussion if you remember to do all the reflection discussion, super easy. Make sure you do the reflection on Monday and have peer review responses done by Tuesday/wednesday every single week just so you don’t miss out on one. ALSO HIT THE 200 WORD LIMIT BECUASE YOU WILL GET 0/6.25. I literally was 5 words under and got 0 and emailed them being like hey its not fair I should get partial marks so I ended up with 3/6.25 (not complaining as its better than 0). If you miss one of the discussion (sick, family emergencies - provide certificate, or simply forgot), make sure to email Mackenzie and she will grant you some partial marks. If you don’t have any reason, defend you claim saying that you alway submit on time and follow the criteria etc. Also thought this was so unfair because a lot of my friends submitted late and still end up getting full marks. It honestly depends tutor to tutor. Be organised and write in calendar all the key dates for discussion. I know so many people who missed out on easy points. The essay is also not hard at all, it’s 2000 words and if you manage to get like over 60/65% that’s an automatic H1. There are so many topics to choose from. The key to writing good essays is actually imbedding your own voice/ opinion to your arguments/body paragraphs. Also for each paragraphs find 2 evidence and analyse and provide unique intepretations of your understanding of the literature to develop your paragraph. It makes it more engaging rather than just blurting random cherry picked pieces of information. You don’t also have to talk about wellbeing in your essay unless the topic directly addresses it. Like I did culture and didn’t mention anything about wellbeing. If you have done Music Pyschology, the essay is very similar to that tbh. I didn’t do music psych and most of my evidence were like Pyschology studies.

100% a WAM booster. Scored 91. 50% of marks are guaranteed lol. The essay is marked more harshly though. Use subheadings.

Good subject for a WAM boosting breadth. You do have to keep yourself accountable and fill out the weekly discussion to the correct specifications, but doing this will get you 100% for 50% of your grade. Lots of free reign (you can write on anything relevant to the course) for the final essay, and tutors were engaged and answering questions despite the no-contact style of the class.

The subject is done purely online and it consisted of weekly discussions (until week 10) where you just had to contribute to discussion by Thursday and you'd automatically get 5 marks by the end of the week - meaning you automatically got 50% for the final mark. The other 50% is made up of a final 2000 word assignment - due at the end of week 1 exams. You get the whole semester to write the final report, so you can hand it in whenever you want. The instructions were a bit vague which made it difficult to know what we were suppose to write about. But, overall it's pretty easy to get a H1 since half the marks are an automatic guarantee. If you're interested in music psychology this subject will be your cup of tea. The topics were interesting too. You don't necessarily need to know about music and/or psychology in depth to pass well.
