My favourite subject by far as a second year biomed student. Content was well explained with the lecturers being very well versed and interested in their fields. Would highly recommend!

Very typical bioscience subject in terms of level of content and the way that you have to regurgitate it. Pracs were uninteresting, MST was very easy although you had to be efficient with your time.

Very interesting subject, the content was occasionally challenging but not discouraging. My biggest issue was I found the online pracs hard to follow, but the TAs were very helpful in explaining any misunderstandings. The workshop quizzes were not too hard, and the MST was alright but very long which lead to a fairly low average. The exam was very fair and was similar to the practice questions provided on Canvas. A H1 is very achievable if you put in the effort to keep on top of the content, anki proved to be very useful for this subject.

Quite an interesting and easy subject content-wise, especially if you have done physiology before. Lectures weren't too difficult to follow each week and coordinators were active on discussion boards. There were 2 online pracs which were a bit boring but overall pretty useful when it came to consolidation. Exam was fair imo, however many of us found the MST too long (class average was 65) which made getting a H1 an uphill battle.

If rote learning is your thing, this is the subject for you. 157 drug mentioned and you are expected to know the name, mechanisms, side effects and be able to justify their use. Most of the lecturers are fantastic, particularly Khami and Michelle (who coordinate the subject). I would recommend that you do a semester of biochemistry and a physiology subject before this one as that knowledge really helped me. I found the content really interesting and the explanations were great but you need to keep on top of the content and it can be easy to fall behind. The exam was fair but because it is short I felt a bit sad that I'd learned about so many only to be tested on like 30ish. None of the questions covered in the workshops were even remotely covered to the final exam but they give a good idea of the types of questions asked. The workshop quizzes are essentially free marks and you get 5% for just handing in pracs sheets (regardless of what your answers were) so you get 20% free marks. Mid semester exam was tough but fair and the practice quizzes are pretty straight forward. Should be a fairly achievable H1 if you put in the effort to memorise all the drugs.

Really enjoyed this subject because the content was highly applicable and interesting! They explained concepts well and resources to help you understand is accessible :)

Interesting introduction to later Pharmacology subjects

Worked in very well with Human Physiology. The lecturers were all very competent and the content was always interesting. There is a lot of memorising of drugs and mechanisms, but if you get organised then it won't be so much of a problem.

Quite well coordinated, related to physiology in many ways helps if you are taking it together or like you took it the semester before. Interesting to know the mechanism of drugs but does have a lot of memorising (eg. drug names, mechanism, side effects, etc)
