Fantastic subject. Pick a good place to do your internship and enjoy your high score. This subject is a rare one that's actually possible to get 100 in, as they do give out 100s for good assignments.

WELL to say the least, this subject's marking was shocking. It was not alot of work (which is good because internships are usually very time draining), but the marking was absolutely horrible. Sometimes it sort of made me question whether they actually spent time to read my assignments because the pointed out problems or 'things I was missing' when it was right there. I ended up getting a H2B, which isn't bad but it definitely dragged my WAM down.... If I had my time again, I wouldn't have done it.

I did this during the Summer and I wanted to wait until I received all the assessments back to review this, because what you actually do at the internship doesn't really impact your assessment. Yes, your assessment is based on your internship experience but having done great at the actual placement doesn't guarantee a good grade. When it comes to the subject aspect, I enjoyed it, and I would recommend this to anyone. Not only is it great for your resume (and you gain amazing contacts) but it's also a great WAM booster. Yes, you heard right. I did the bare minimum on my assignments and delivered literally the first draft on everything and got high H1. As long as you follow the rubrics and criteria, you're guaranteed points, regardless of how much/little you actually did in your placement. The hurdles were kinda pointless, ngl. But I enjoyed the assessments. The Case Study was actually so useful because you get to ask any questions about the career to someone actually working there, so if there's anything about the job that you wanna know, this is the best opportunity to get answers. The presentation was basically to let you flex about what you accomplished and was genuinely fun to do and the essay was alright, though the worst out of the 3. I did believe that 2000 words was a bit too much, but really all they wanna see is that you saw some connection between your degree and your career and there's a lot of room for discussion, and because everyone's experience is so different, there aren't clear cut rules or ideas that they expect you to mention, so it can be quite easy to get good marks. Yes, you do have to pay for the internship, in an indirect way, I guess, but you have to pay that money anyway on another subject, why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone? Honestly recommend, its a great subject and its very well coordinated, the staff are so lovely and reply to emails pretty much instantly (shoutout to Ash) and there really aren't any downsides to doing this subject.

As a subject, it's stupid. Assessment tasks were too vague and just felt like busy work to make this feel like a subject (which it did not). They were marked completely arbitrarily wtf. As an internship experience, blatantly depends where you work. Getting the most out of the experience is key, but I see it mainly as paying to get an internship where you could just source one yourself if you're really motivated.

Obviously this subjects quality is mainly going to be based on where you get an internship, but in terms of assessment its pretty much what you'd expect. The assignment instructions can be a bit vague and are all quite wishy-washy and similar to each other, but I'm not sure how else they could assess a subject like this and they are at least easy to bs due to their 'self-reflective' kind of tone. Totally worth doing for the experience, as a subject its fine and what you'd expect.
