Decent subject, good intro to management accounting core principles which are later built on through more theoretical application in mgmt acct 2.

Avoid this subject just like avoid any MGMT subject

Although it is interesting, I feel it is taught poorly as the lecturers seem to cram everything in leaving no room to specialise in any topic and instead it is very general which means the exams are difficult since it doesn't focus on one thing.

Nothing relates to journal entries. It's a different branch of accounting. You study mostly about costing, short-term decision and a bit of performance evaluation. It's half calculation & half theory course. You need to have a deep understanding of the contents to do well as the questions are usually tricky (not to mention that the marking is so very strict). Don't ever cram this subject the last minute. I give it 5 stars because it's challenging & interesting at the same time.

Will do fine if you don't last-minute cram in the studying

This course examines management accounting practices directed towards the effective use of organisational resources and focuses on three interrelated themes: first, the design and operation of management accounting systems for planning and control; second, the role of management accounting practices in supporting effective resource management and process improvement; and, third, the manner in which these practices affect and are affected by human processes within organisations.

This course consists of a mixture of mathematical and theoretical aspects, providing a highly solid introduction to management accounting's overall theories and concepts. It requires continual and regular work; however, the lectures and homework exercises are extremely helpful and engaging.
