Reviews

To be honest, definitely one of the easier ACCT courses at UNSW. Can be a WAM booster if you put in a decent amount of effort. Auditing is all about content, theory and applying that theory to scenarios so if you stay on top of your work, it should be a breeze. I enjoyed it a lot, and the seminars were interesting and not too demanding. Making quality notes is a must!

Contents are theoretical but exams are practical so there is a gap. Require a strong foundation of financial accounting. Practice past exams helps abit but they change the exam every semester. The key is to know how to recognise/solve different types of question (e.g. substantive test, transaction cycles, fraud, internal control).

This course examines the practice of auditing and the underlying concepts, auditors responsibilities and the audit environment. Although the focus of attention is on audits carried out under the provisions of the Corporations Law, reference is also made to other forms of audit. The course is intended to provide an overview of the audit process as it exists in Australia. Both CIS and computer-assisted audit techniques are an integral part of this unit.
