The content was interesting but overall I found the course to be super disorganised which detracted from the positives. The group assignment is a waste of time and the labs are pretty straightforward but nothing too exciting. I took it because it was mandatory for my degree but would certainly not have taken by choice.

There is a lot of content one must learn in this course. Thus, one must keep up to date with this subject, in order to do well. Labs are not that difficult, but content from them should not be dismissed.

Labs were okay, lecturers were good, just keep up to date with all the lecture notes including the prac work since the the mid sems and final exam cover both these sections. However, there were no practice exam papers to use for revision.

Easy for previous biology students but interesting and well run for those who haven't done it before.

Course has alot of information but was interesting to do. I think alot of people underestimate the amount of content you need to remember but since alot of concepts covered are from HSC biology, if you did that then it shouldn't be that much of a struggle. There are two midsems, which I found helpful because it pretty much stopped me from cramming for finals since I had prepared my notes before hand. Labs are 3 hours long but if you finish early you can always do something else. The course teaches you how to write scientific reports + look through journal articles and I think that's an important skill to have. There are no past papers for this course.

The labs are soooo long and boring. Lectures are relatively easy if you study

Make sure you are constantly revising throughout the semester - especially the little things.

Very straightforward course. If you did biology in high school, some of the content will be pretty easy, just a bit more detailed. Course manual is pretty good since it tells you everything that will happen in every lecture. If you happen to be in one of the first lab sessions of the week, you're most likely to get the bad samples and reagents and have your lab practicals failing. Plan your lab work because demonstrators try to get you to choose which practicals you want to do first for good time management. If you happen to have Ted as your demonstrator.. good luck. I had Jacinta and she was pretty good just group discussions were a bit slow so we'd be the last ones to leave. Some lecturers can really go off topic and then rush the end of the lectures.

A general and broad biology course, straightforward for hsc biology students with a slight extension on most content. For students that haven't studied biology previously it can be a bit overwhelming and I would definitely recommend utilising a text book or just getting the aid of a tutor to provide an explanation of some of the background that is skimmed over. On the whole a good course

Good subject that gives a broad understanding of biology, although may seem a little repetitive if you did Year 12 Biology. Good laboratories and good lecturers.
