Reviews
Fast paced subject, particularly if you're fresh out of high school- what you might learn in a term at highschool you'll cover in a couple of days. Quite an interesting subject, most of the lecturers are passionate and keen to help, tutors are alright. You have minor assessments each week with relatively unlimited attempts, there's plenty of opportunities to pass the course, it's a little more tricky to actually get a high credit/ distinction.

Well structured, fast paced and interesting. Some of the lab questions are extended are quite challenging but the demonstrator was really helpful and nice

The lecturers are passionate and know the content. The content is broad and not as difficult when making use of the plentiful resources to help you understand. Labs are easy enough if you read the manual and staff are helpful overall.

Course is well structured and gives the student a broad exposure to chemistry. The course is ideal chemical engineering students as it overlooks thermodynamics. Laboratory component is straightforward and teaches the students key techniques that will be useful for higher level courses.

Course is good and the content is broad. Labs can be made easier by reading through the method before hand and doing any calculations necessary before the lab. It's easy to score marks in the lab, too. Cole is an interesting lecturer, although he does cover content fast. Kable has an interesting style of teaching, with handout sheets being discussed in class. Tutorials are very helpful to clear up any doubts that are present. Mid-sem test is easy as long as enough revision has been done.

Difficult but excellent lecturers. Practicals are great

Course isn't as difficult as what some people make it out to be (other than the finals). The midsems were fairly straightforward, and pretty similar to the practise one given on moodle. Lab demonstrators were nice + friendly. Lecturers were all really good. Beves is a good lecturer, he explained concepts well + his slides were easy to make notes with. Summaries his lectures + gives out handouts. Cole's lectures were interactive + he gave out printed copies of his notes. He was abit difficult to understand sometimes but if you refer back to the textbook you should be able to understand it. Kable covered alot of content and I felt he went abit fast but he did demonstrations + gave out handouts to do in class. Overall an okay course to do.

Okay subject. Content maybe be reasonably okay in the lectures but it gets difficult when you have to learn how to apply that knowledge to questions and think critically. Lab works are pretty good, demonstrators are nice. Try to plan out your lab so you can leave early or get things done on time. Beves is a pretty good lecturer, summarises previous lectures as he goes on but sometimes a little fast. Cole is sometimes hard to understand. Kable is pretty engaging in his lectures and organises his lecture slides in a good way that's easy to follow. Does handout worksheets during lectures and encourages discussion between students. My tutor for tutorials was very helpful. Duty tutors tend to be very busy, lots of students go there for help so get there early.

All lecturers were amazing. Labs were enjoyable however demonstrator marking was inconsistent. Final exam was hard and tested a lot of the course but marks scaled up in the end. A difficult but rewarding course overall.

A comprehensive and challenging chemistry course, there is only one test aside from finals and it is quite straightforward however the yearly is much more difficult and tests a deeper understanding so make sure you have a strong conceptual understanding as well as a good grasp of the equations.
