- no where close to interested to maths/economics but still got 82 overall - if you nicely ask for people for their notes, and past assignments, good place to bounce off ideas and put together something for your assignment - work hard and try to get marks in the group assignment, before you are off on your own groping in the dark - scrap as many marks as you can from weekly quizzes - hard to understand, but effort can still reap fruit

Quite a difficult course, especially for those without a statistics or even a maths background. If you put in the hours for it, you should be fine though.

Really bad structured, projects are out of context, gradings are hidden, one of the worst course in unsw

Not a challening subject, however the concepts are new and you can feel like you are studying a different language. Maybe you need to put some time to study. But once you get the basic, that's easy.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

It seems like a lot at first but its basically the same thing over and over again. MyStatLab quiz questions can sometimes be found in the practice quizzes. Take some time to remember the assumptions and conditions of each test. Tutors can sometimes be helpful but the tutors on the discussion board are useless. Overall the course gave little direction to students.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

Difficult. Focus on getting good marks in your internals as they are easy compared to the final.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2017

Heard it's most difficult first-year statistics course in Australia. The way contents are taught to assessment and final exam, nothing is easy. It also has pretty high failure rate too. I've seen many people repeat the subject and desperately want to pass.

ITS DIFFICULT. WAM KILLER FOR SURE. I had a great tutor and great friends which is why I passed but honestly, this course was hard af. Since its a commerce core course you'll just have to suffer through it. I'm glad I passed

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2017

Actually one of the hardest first year courses by far. I had to go to every PASS class to even grasp the concepts. You need a lot of study and the textbook is huge and not worth it. Managed to get 74, so no Distinction there. Just extremely hard!

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2017

The contents are not challenging but the way the course is run is problematic. They seem to focus too much on the math side without talking much about the application of the concepts. Also, fortnightly quizzes & final exam are quite difficult so don't cram the last minute. Work on it consistently. Also ,for the group project, get a decent partner as it accounts for 20%. A note for those who just wants to pass, get as many marks as you can for the pre-exam components. If you think you will do well in the final exam, you def need to think again.
