This is the first time this course has been offered completely online I believe and I really enjoyed it. You could do the work at your own pace, as long as each module is completed within a week and it wasn't time-consuming at all; I was able to finish each week's worth of work within 2 days or so. The lecturer mostly just read through the slides so I ended up just downloading the slides and using them to answer the quiz questions instead of sitting through a 1hr+ lecture which saved me lots of time. There were only 2 essay-based assessments which involved your own research on a topic that interested you and 3 short compulsory tasks for certain topics (1 page max. of dot points mostly), no final exam. Content was kind of boring and didn't relate that much to assessment tasks so I mostly skimmed the slides to complete the weekly modules; however, I enjoyed researching and writing the assessment essays. Those who have studied legal studies in high school will find that some of the content overlaps which makes it easier to understand. Pretty easy to get a HD in if you complete each module on time, follow the assessment instructions and research your essay topics thoroughly, using reputable sources.

The content is half interesting, but the lecturer isn't as engaging as I would have appreciated. There is no final exam, so if you don't pay attention it isn't too detrimental. If you have a background in human rights (eg. legal studies HSC) this is a great refresher. 3 hours was a long time to pay attention. Overall the assessment schedule was great and flexible.

A lot of people have mentioned that they found the lecturer very dry but I think his teaching style - though old-fashioned - was effective in making sure that I understood the content. A very good summary of human rights' history etc, even though I was familiar with some of the content already. Good assignment schedule, too, as it is mostly up to you to choose when they are due.

The tutor in this is extremely dry, and takes away from any interest of the course content. I went in with high expectations for this course due to having an interest in human rights and wouldn't ever recommend this subject to anyone who doesn't at least have any slight interest in human rights at all, otherwise you will be sticking hating yourself for 3 hours every week during the seminar. The biggest benefit of this is the assignment schedule, there's really not many assignments. A short presentation, two very short essay responses and a major essay.

I had the same tutor for Terror and Religion, but have found him to be very dry both times. He talks a lot and does not allow a lot of class discussion. But the subject matter is very interesting and the assignments are very open in their content.
