Really interesting content, very fair exams, lecturer makes confusing concepts as simple as she can for you, nice tutors and you get 16% just from attempting the online worksheets regardless of your score. They have seriously paved the way to a 7 for everyone that puts in a tiny bit of effort and makes sure they understand the core concepts.

I really enjoyed this course. It was a really good foundational introduction to linguistics. The worksheets were easy marks and helped keep you on top of the material as you progress through the course. The exams were pretty easy and mostly based off lecture material, although there were a few obscure questions on the final exam. Some of the topics, especially those discussed towards the end of the semester were a bit vague- such as applying the Gricean maxims, for example. The highlight of the course for me was the final lecture, which was all about sign language. The second hour there was an awesome first language AUSLAN guest lecturer; it was really interesting!

This class is definitely challenging to wrap your head around if you have never learned Linguistics. But, I still found it very interesting and beneficial to my degree!

Interesting course. It is easy to keep up if you do the worksheets and tute exercises each week. Exams are straight-forward and the questions tend to be written simply - if you know the lecture content they are a breeze.

Takes a steady and thorough approach to introducing people to Linguistics. I feel like I have a vast knowledge of a lot of different aspects of Linguistics. It's a very good foundation for further study. Going to tutorials and reading feedback from teachers is very helpful, some things is linguistics can seem a little ambiguous. I found this especially in semantic reference and Gricean maxims.
