This was an excellent thorough course and a great introduction to linear algebra and university-level maths in general. Overall I found Poh to be the best lecturer although not sure if she is still teaching the course, but as someone with a teaching background she was able to deliver the concepts in a much more engaging way than the other lecturer at the time I was enrolled. The course materials are excellent - the workbook and tute sheets alone are enough practice to ace the course, so the "required" textbook is barely needed. The MATLAB learning curve in the practical sessions is also appropriate and the technical learning well complements the theory.

Do more practices to get good grade.

This course was fantastic for understanding the basics of linear algebra. The lecturer spoke quickly, but luckily the workbook was comprehensive.

MATH1051 can be difficult and hard to understand at times, especially given the speed with how the lecturers pass through. However, if broken down each concept individually and given the right time, this can be a subject to earn great marks, as long as you don't let the workload consume you

Apparently the students from different lecture streams find it harder. Tips: Attend or listen to Poh's lecture if she's teaching, that's all you need.

Important content but delivery of it during lectures was dull. Although this is an easy course, definitely do not skip lectures based on the first few (many do) even if you've learnt stuff from high school maths as this subject does go into more depth and practice is still required to do well. Past exams are very helpful (especially since worked solutions are provided) and are probably more important to complete than tutorial sheets. Tutorials may or may not be helpful for you depending on how well you understand the content and whether the tutor is good at teaching. I didn't find them particularly useful but attended them all since the assignments are marked by your tutor so you can understand what they expect and write down their tips (remember tutorials are not recorded).

Jennings is a great lecturer who clarifies the concepts well. The course is quite good and the notes really make it easy to learn the material as you don't really need to turn to any textbooks.

I loved this course, a great first year subject. If you can get your head around the content youll really enjoy this one.

The lecturer tried his best with dry humour, and can be monotonous as well. However, the course is very interesting and challenging.
