Reviews

Content was lengthy but simple, including financial statements. Exams were fairly straightforward though at times the sample answers were misleading(particularly around example financial statements differing from examples from coursework). Tutorials go on for a bit too long but they are useful for practicing exam style responses.

Loved this class! Great tutors and the textbook was the most helpful during exam season

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2024

Not a hard subject, just so much unnecessary content in the modules. Need to know balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement for the final.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2023

Not a particularly difficult subject. However modules were absolutely useless, relied on textbook throughout the semester. Though content was actually somewhat interesting.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2023

Not too hard of a unit - however harder if you don't have any background knowledge of accounting beforehand.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2023

pretty fundamental accounting stuff that business students should know. if you've done accounting in high school this should be a breeze. everything is in the textbook so do have a good read of it before attempting the quizzes and the individual assignment. everything they ask come mostly from the book, the MCQ can be weirdly worded sometimes but just have the textbook on your side and you'll be fine.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2023

Essential content for all economics and business students. Fairly easy, but a bit tedious at times.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

Awesome content. Gives you a nice, introductory overview of what accounting is all about. The lecturers are decent. Only major issue is the difficulty of midterms and final exams. Way over the top, with very short exam times.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

HATED this subject. Lecturer is TERRIBLE and seems to want you to fail. The content covered is very boring and convoluted, and was hardly relevant to exam questions. Online quizzes were a nightmare, with questions worded so weirdly that you couldn't understand what was actually being asked. Only saving grace was the lovely tutor. DO NOT do this unit unless you have to.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2018

I found that you have to teach yourself most of the content in this unit as the teaching is not through enough, though the teachers are super nice. Really try to master the rudiments in the first few weeks and the rest will be easy. If you don't, it will be impossible.
