Better than BUSS1000, this course uses maths to explain business strategy instead of research journals and business news articles and subjective theory. I got Andrew Wait as the lecturer, who is really good at microeconomics. This course should be a compulsory subject for all business students.

Suraj is by far the worst lecturer I have experienced in my 4 semesters at university. Communication through blackboard is vague with all notes handwritten but not shown in lecture recordings. Hence, all 3 hour lectures basically must be attended. Also, his hand writing and accent are incredibly difficult to understand. The subject has no textbook or tutorials due to university cost cutting and material is experimental so very hard to find on the internet. Would strongly advise against taking this subject.(taken in S2 2016)

Suraj is a fantastic lecturer, who explains things very clearly and is always telling us to slow him down if he goes too fast. The course was organised extremely well; incentives, game theory and miscellaneous topics on strategy. I found game theory, bargaining and auctions very interesting. It was good that Suraj gave us extra notes on the harder topics like the hold up problem, price discrimination and signalling. What a legend. He also interacts with the class and uses us in examples. Suraj also remembered my name from ECON1003! Great job! Practice problem sets every week were short (some had just one question, others up to five questions) and definitely not overwhelming. A lot of maths is used in this, but it's not entirely difficult. Both mid-terms were marked very fairly, and the final exam had some tutorial questions! We have a 3 hour lecture, where the third hour is the tutorial, and it can get tiring keeping your attention undivided. All in all, one of the most enjoyable economics subjects you can take, with the best lecturer ever. Thanks Suraj!

Great subject. Suraj is a great teacher and explains things well. He goes a bit fast and doesn't stick exactly to the power point but rather goes through it himself on the whiteboard. I like his style of teaching as it's very intuitive. It's a maths based subject, but models very interesting concepts relevant to economics and business.
