Very interesting and up-to-date content about poverty alleviations programs. Mostly looked at current programs and what actually works according to the evidence - not too much maths but a lot of analysis of empirical and statistical methods in research papers. Lecturer was clearly very knowledgable but sometimes his delivery could be a bit boring. Overall the unit was interesting because it was applied to real-life situations, and it was relatively easy to achieve a good mark with a little effort.

An interesting and fun course that is relatively simple. Broad economic theories

This is one of the easier economics subjects. Hardly any maths however you refer to econometric concepts in a few topics but nothing too in depth. Highly recommend. Put in a little extra effort and you're guaranteed a distinction or high credit

This unit focuses on a lot of theory and some econometric concepts. Shyamal is a decent lecturer who provides comprehensive notes on the subject. Lots of examples and case studies are given to solidify the unit's concepts, which is great.The tutorial questions are also well structured in that they achieve that same effect. Overall, a decent economic elective.

Very theory based subject involving some simple models. There's a lot of reading and researching, but not much numerical working out which is what i prefer. I found the mid semester exam quite good. Didn't really enjoy the group report (as it was hard to work well with other students). Final exam was much harder, but still do-able. Textbook can be accessed online or purchased quite cheap and reads well (more like a narrative than a textbook). I've heard the lecturers for this subject change a lot though.
