If you do not like learning about IR theory then I would avoid this course, because it is very theoretical. The theory topics are interesting though. The International Security Module is why I am not giving this a 4 or 5 out of 5, the lectures are structured really badly and the lecturer does not explain it very well. The assignments for this course are pretty accessible but the final assignment and exam at least for me had about 4 days in between them. The final exam is also tough, you basically have to write 3 questions, 500 words each, in an hour and a half.

Overall boring but interesting at times. Do not take unless compulsory or you like IR theory, it's not really about critical or abstract thought just about whether you understand IR theory

I really enjoyed this course a great deal! It's broken up into four modules, which form the key basis of study into International Relations: -International Organisations -International Political Economy -International Security -International Law I really, really enjoyed every aspect of how they handled IO's, IPE and International Law, and wouldn't change a thing. However, all three lectures for international security were somewhat subpar, and they should be revised by the Unit Coordinator immediately. However, I definitely recommend taking this unit, even as if you don't need to do it as a core, as it was excellently run and had 10/13 really engaging and interesting lectures.
