Couldn’t recommend this subject to anyone, unless they are extremely interested in government functions and different layouts across countries and enjoy doing 100+ pages of reading a week. Assignments little have to do with the “challenges” of democratic politics, it’s just examining the minor nuances of each system. Then some minor discussion of actual challenges of democratic politics towards the end. They were on political fragmentation, populism, social capital etc… still not entirely worth it though in my opinion, wish I chose something different. Tutor for S1 2024 is incredibly smart and passionate which is nice, but harsh marker and quite dogmatic with it too. Never have I been marked down for not having a title, and I was told my thesis statement is wrong, when there was essay question to be used? I usually get distinctions, haven’t received a mark above 55 yet. Oh well… P’s get degrees!
