Reviews

the structure of the unit was very consistent and once you learned it (by exploring all the canvas pages) it was easy to keep up with. there were two lectures, one early in the week to teach content and one later in the week to go over the weekly quiz and some practice problems. the unit was based heavily on the textbook and they always expected you to read it but you could get away with just the lectures if it wasn't your priority. the labs were okay, a bit boring but manageable. don't diddle daddle at the start and you can finish early. the labs content was also manageable, just get your head around combining uncertainties and you'll be right. I must admit I learned most of the weekly content with the weekly quiz which we were allowed three attempts on. also it's really tempting to skip the review lecture. the content is relatively straightforward (easy if you've done some physics in year 11 or 12) but sometimes deceptively easy. if you don't put in the work, you won't ace it. overall I spent the least time on this unit and I presume my grades are a product of that. as I write this I haven't done the exam yet but they tell us the examiners are really working for us to get as many marks as we can. supposedly if you can explain the concept a bit and do some working you're most of the way there.

The course stucture and teaching ability was very impressive. The pace is very easy to keep up with and is difficult to fall behind on. Once you get your head around the key concepts in the course then it becomes very simply and enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone who hasn't done any physics before.

Make sure you consistently study throughout the semester, last minute cramming in stuvac will not help you. You've been warned.

Out of all my subjects, physics had the best structure. Best approach to tutorials and the interactive lecturers really helped. I would have liked to have access to more resources other than the textbook as I didn't buy it.
