Reviews
Very interesting with good variety in topics and lecturers. Weekly discussion posts took pressure off the assessments, since they comprised 40%. Some lecturers were better than others though, with a few lectures taking 40 minutes in a 2 hour slot, and therefore not going into enough detail. Monique McKenzie is brilliant.

Really bland, and complicated. Spent all year learning and analysing content and our assignments and 'exam' wanted us to write 2 essays about something completely unrelated.

Thoroughly enjoyed this subject! Teachers are awesome and have a genuine interest in helping their students. Would recommend this subject!

SO boring - I can't say i actually learnt anything either. ..... so so dull.

I found this unit quite theoretical and boring. Fiona is a good lecturer and the unit has potential to be more interesting if it was more practical and you learnt about sociological issues themselves rather than just theory. It is quite easy to do well in if you are willing to put in the work.

It was a really boring and annoying subject. It pretty much made me lose all interest in sociology and that's saying something considering I've always been really passionate about it. DO NOT take it as a filler! This subject is way too intense for that! You get a ridiculous amount of homework every week. I wouldn't recommend taking it unless you're pursuing a career in sociology in which case you'll just have to put up with it, 1002 is better.

Most dry and boring unit of study to do for a rather interesting subject.

they make a very interesting subject incredibly boring.... it is a prerequisite for a lot of amazing second year subjects but honestly idk if it's worth it
