This subject was fantastic. I had Alec Pemberton as a tutor (a kind Gandalf-like character that takes you back in time). He was a beacon of encyclopaedic knowledge; exploring moral and ethical debates of inequality, distribution, public policy solutions to current inequalities and more classical arguments surrounding the role of government in providing for the needs of the less fortunate. Assignments for this subject can be taken in a broad range of different directions which meant you were able to follow your interests in this subject. Alec was also very open to students arguing whatever they wanted as long as it considered each side of a set argument fairly. A lot of reading is set for this subject and while I found it enjoyable to read, upon reflection I would say you could get through this subject with minimal reading as long as you read widely for assessments. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!!
