Reviews

The unit is extremely poorly taught. Looking back they were actually pretty simple concepts that were taught in the worst way possible - Clara overcomplicates it. She goes through proofs in every lecture then proceeds to say you won't see most of this in the final exam (??!!). Additionally, she has these typed notes (nice) but then uses her lecture time to just copy them verbatim - isn't there a better use of lecture time??? Further, I have always found I understood math/stat concepts best when I understood the solutions.... but the solutions for tutorial exercises in this unit were either extremely vague or non-existent. Be sure to ace your quizzes and assignments cause the final exam is even worse. All the best!

I created an account to comment on this unit. If you could find any way to get around this unit just do it(summer school, exchange program, etc). The content wasn't hard but Clara made it hard. The notes were with some mistakes and many redundant steps in proof and solution, and you didn't even know what were the things being asked in many example questions. The final was all horrible last year, I heard, and all the students in 2023 were victims of unreasonable question setting. I doubted if it improved this year. Overall the teaching quality was bad.

The lectures were useless, Clara Grazian. This lecturer seemed very hardworking on the handwritten lecture notes, but the content of the handwritten notes is extremely similar to lecture notes released every week. I didn't learn anything new from weekly lectures, why don't you cancel it and decrease the tuition of the unit. MATH1005, also taught by her, was also horrible. I don't understand why you don't choose a lecturer who is capable of explaining concepts better than this one. I couldn't learn anything from the lecturer. The textbook is the most useful tool for gaining knowledge. The money I paid for this course was wasted. The university didn't provide high-quality teaching.
