Good subject with interesting content which sets a basis for further HRM studies. Make sure to listen and annotate the Online Modules (it will save your life in the x3 5% quizzes). I recommend getting a head-start on the essay as soon as possible, and always bring it back towards the traditional three theories; Pluralism, Radicalism, and Unitarism (as well as the gender perspective). The in-class presentation wasn't too difficult, just make sure (as in most group projects) to find the right people to do it with. In regards to the course-content, it may be a little difficult for non-Australians (such as myself) when picking up the roles of political figures and government commissions. Just make sure that you know who the main figures are such as the FWC, and FWO as well as any unions and case studies that are mentioned in lecture.

Did not like this unit. Was very bland and boring, and they expected you to know quite a bit. I suggest if you take this unit to prepare yourself by watching the news and reading business articles about the current employment and work climate.

Well structured and organised course. Very interesting. Hard work will pay off.

I really enjoyed the course. It was very structured and organised. All the content was covered by the lecturer so I didn't even do any readings from the textbook. Stephen Clibborn was a great lecturer. He reduced the content of the course, which made it easier. The assessments and exams were pretty good. The course in general is very laid back, and the overall it was okay. I recommend it to all.

very dry bland and boring. Heavy theory, lots of content, assessments are all essay based are very hard to achieve high marks in. Time consuming unit and is non rewarding. The lecturer and tutors themselves are wonderful people and are very helpful however it was the actual subject content that is off putting. Being a first year uni student interested in management/HR, this unit was a huge disappointment and really put me off the field altogether

If you are looking to gain knowledge in HR, this is the wrong subject. The content can at times be a bit dry, but I felt like I learned so much from this subject, about the theoretical basis of our political parties. Personally, it made me hate the liberal party more than ever! :P

Very dry first year subject heavily based on literature. Will not spark any interest in actual, practical human resources (like most Work and Org. Studies subjects). If you are more interested in studying Human Resources as opposed to Industrial Relations, you're better off at UNSW or some other uni.
