Keith taught the first section of the unit comprising of carbohydrates and just a small section of the amino acids. His part was by far the easiest as he explained everything slowly and clearly. His marking is a bit harsh (both lab and quiz), nonetheless still manageable enough to score well in. Both the quiz and exam questions were easy and manageable. Second section was taught by Gavin comprising of the remaining amino acid section, nucleic acids, and secondary metabolism lectures. As with CHEM2003, Gavin's section is by far the lengthiest and, in my opinion, the hardest to do well in. However, Gavin is organised with his content and you must be extremely diligent to score well. The labs were long and difficult, but the reports were easy enough to score well in. The quiz was full MCQ and seemed reasonable in difficulty. The exam's SAQ however would've been easy if you kept track of all the types of reactions introduced. The last section was taught by George comprising of metalloenzymes. Content-wise, its pure memorisation. His content will sound very foreign given you have no background in biochemistry. It was hard to pinpoint what would be examined and what is not. Fortunately, the quiz is MCQ and was easy to do well in. His lab section was also easy, both the experiment and report. However, his exam SAQs were extremely difficult to do well in. A combination of memorisation and luck is required. If you were got the content you studied from his section on the exam, consider yourself lucky.

The first lecturer taught about carbohydrates and a few amino acids. He is quite good and organized. The second lecturer was the best lecturer for this unit. He explained the content well and his slides were nice. His quiz was a bit difficult and his lab is the most difficult. The last lecturer is terrible and unorganized in his content. Most of students did not know what he was talking about. His lab is short and his quiz just have three options for MCQ. The final exam level was intermediate.
