Avoid at all costs. Very useless unit coordinator. Slides were seriously low quality – strung together and majority plagiarised from better sources (First Principles of Computer Vision on YouTube >>>>>). Lecturer didn't do anything other than reading out the slides and scrawling the most basic equations on the board, while convincing you that you needed to understand the traumatisingly difficult linear algebra that is literally not explained at all. Project wasn't bad, exam was stupid – still scratching my head as to why the unit coordinator was so evasive with simple questions like "do I have to memorise matrix forms for different transforms?" and he says "you'll need to know all matrix calculations" and then tests us on literally none. Somehow this dude secured a job, though he very obviously doesn't care about it – much preferring to be lazy and not answer questions rather than create a unit where students can actually learn something, instead opting to vomit old slides from 2015 UWA and plagiarised from 2004 University of Washington (who somehow manage to explain concepts better than he can?) The 'lecture covering the exam' had a slide entitled: What will be included in your exam?  All topics covered in the lectures. That was the whole slide. That was the only slide in the entire lecture about what content was applicable. Some of our lectures were >150 slides of dense linear algebra and algorithms. Instead of being clear, he was vague, not sure if it was either out of sheer idiocy or some cynical hatred of his students – in any case the result was an exam that was impossible to prepare for. The quality of this unit is a stain on the existence of the University of Western Australia

Do yourself a favour and don't bother with this unit. Google OpenCV tutorials and teach yourself everything this unit offers in two weeks. Save yourself the money and time spent dealing with the egotistical lab facilitator.
