Strongly echo the comment below. Lecture notes are well put together and assignments reinforce learning... the positives end there. Lecturer has a chip on his shoulder and is not personable at all. Hearing him put down his previous students is awkward and unpleasant. The flawed marking scheme does not capture understanding and the convention he makes you follow is the reason no one finishes in time. I'd rather not waste time during the exam re-writing the question, reproducing diagrams, and converting units ad nauseum.

interesting content, lectures are pretty easy to follow and the homework assignments are a good way to keep on top of it. had a really negative experience with the lecturer/unit coordinator/tutorial facilitator, felt like he wasn't interested in helping students succeed at all. this completely ruined my experience with the unit. think it would've been a pretty alright unit otherwise, but lecturer's attitude in tutorials really put me off the unit.

Like the other 2 reviews, make sure you don't fall behind and make sure you work through every example. There is an assignment due every 2 weeks if you have worked through the examples you will get 70s easily in the assignments as the questions are very similar to the examples. The labs are relatively easy. Final exam was difficult so make sure you are sitting on a good average before the final exam.

If you keep up with the material and work through ALL assignment problems during the semester, you will be fine. If you fall behind this unit will be painful.

Constantly do the example questions and read through the notes and understand each theory and will get HD.
