Reviews

The sequel to ENSC2003, essentially. Wen is a solid enough lecturer and quite friendly, but you're basically expected to work through the tutorial questions yourself (he may do a few in the lecture, but mostly not) - making learning the content harder than it should be (compared to ENSC2003's tutorial sessions). Fortunately, all the four quizzes, and the first midsem basically reuse the same tutorial questions, with maybe one new question in the midsem. For the second midsem (in Week 12 - a replacement for the final exam), the questions were doable but different to the tutorials. Both midsems are worth 30% and the first does have basic questions on circuit fundamentals, so if you have that solid foundation you should be able to get a good chunk of marks.

The Lectures were really well done and informative. The lecturer did read off the slights often and would also omit how he got from A to Z when explaining tutorial problems, so if you don't understand be prepared to ask questions. The labs and tests were easy to score HDs in if you keep up with the content and tutorial problems. If you wanted to score high in this unit overall and in the two exams worth 30% each you would need to put in some extra work and find extra practice problems. It would be a good idea to revise the circuits content from your level 2 units as it's considered prior knowledge and they get right into.

Martin and tutors were really helpful. Unit is split into two parts, each having an exam worth only 30%!! I liked that it was really easy to score high marks for the labs and tests. First part is really easy and fun, second half includes harder topics such as MOSFET. Final exam was a lot tougher than we'd hoped though.
