Reviews
The title of the unit is a little deceptive: I'd call it medieval philosophy and for that reason it is excellent. A good sister-unit to HIST3456. This unit has more of a psychological focus and therefore, more time is spent on Plato, Aristotle, the early church fathers and mothers (e.g. Teresa). Whilst the reading load for this is huge, it is absolutely worth it. But I would suggest having a philosophy background (at least PHIL1002 Critical Thinking, 1001 Ethics for the Digital Age, PSYC1101 Mind and Brain, 1102 Brain and Behaviour and 1003 God, Mind and Knowledge and finally 2003 Philosophy of Religion) will put you in the best position to get the most out of this unit. Kirk is an excellent, responsive, enthusiastic and supportive lecturer. Please note that none of the workshops are recorded, so having a personal archive and regular note taking is recommended. This unit is easy to get a HD in iff. you put the work in.
