Reviews
Lectures were pointless, very poorly run repetitions of the readings. Didn't attend or watch a single one after the second, still got a HD. Readings are very efficient at teaching content, exam requires a bit of prep (not because content is hard, it is open-book, but because of the time limit). However, it was a very interesting unit and the content itself (but not necessarily the classes) is enjoyable.

Very interesting and well-structured unit. The lectures were engaging and clear. The main lecturer, Sagi, is a very passionate teacher. The tutorials were well run and were useful in understanding the content better. The content was mostly related to contract law and tort law, specifically negligence. I listened to all the lectures and attended all tutes, but did not buy the textbook. There were two quizzes worth 15% each during the semester and it was fairly easy to score 90%+ on these. There was also a good chunk of your mark for tutorial participation. The exam was not too hard (despite being open book) and very similar to the practice exam provided. Unlike other reviewers, I found that there was enough time to write the exam. This is a great unit for anyone who is generally interested in this area of law.

I usually avoid going to tutorials but if you wanna do well in this unit go to all ur tutes because they actually are quite interesting. Not a hard unit at all, just a bit content heavy but very interesting stuff as it applies in the real world. highly recommend doing this unit if you study accounting or finance. The final exam is very similar to tute questions and open book so dont stress too much about it. They ask you to get the text book but I didnt bother getting one and still did pretty well. Theres a free version online on proquest ebook (log in to uwa). Its the previous editions but it has the exact same stuff on the exact same pages Save ur $$

Having never studied law before I was worried, however through the guidance of my tutor Bec, the concepts were easy to grasp. This unit was highly informative and very very interesting. It is structured very well and easy to keep on top of the work. The tutes were always fun and helpful and provided a good grounding for future law/ similar units. The exam admittedly was relatively easy as you could bring any notes in but was very short on time and no one finished. 20% of your marks comes from tutorial participation, 30% from quizzes, and 50% from exam. Good unit

This unit was extremely well structured other than towards the end with the multiple small lectures instead of one big one by a different lecturer. The exams were quite hard, we did ours online and it was very time-crunched. However, if you studied and knew your stuff well, it was a fair exam. Our tutor Aleasha was very good, very structured and organised, even when everything had to go online. This unit really helps set a firm foundation for the IRAC structure and the content was very interesting to me.

I straight up did not watch Sagi's lectures because I didn't have the patience for his accent, maybe I'm a bad person for that but I paid $1300 for it so I can do what I want... That being said, the textbook was a lifesaver to have. I wrote my notes dually based on the lecture slides and the textbook. It was so handy having the case law reference page in it. Im an accounting/finance student in 3rd year and this was probably my hardest unit. That being said, if you put in the work you will undoubtedly be paid off... up until the final exam. The final exam was 50 marks but omg they did not nearly give you enough time to give quality answers to their questions, unless you're a quick writer. Which is a shame because then those who know the content aren't really being fairly examined on their knowledge ANYWAY apparently that's normal for law exams WHICH I THINK is silly because this isn't a unit for law students, its for accounting students looking for CPA accreditation, the curtin equivalent doesn't have the same- they get take home exams??? My tutor- Henry was a JD student and he was excellent, 5/5. 20% of your grade is attendance and scaffold answers but that's straightforward in getting, just depends on how much time you want to put in. I was really proud to finish on 91% for this unit pre-exam, but honestly was so angry after leaving the exam because my knowledge became so irrelevant and my ability to write fast was assessed more. Sorry that's my sook, but honestly I feel like its important to know. The structure of the assessments is pretty good, there's no big assignment which is difference but I'm so incredibly thankful for. Sagi and Renae ran the unit really well, I think it was initially over 700 students and they worked hard to keep up with demands, which I'd imagine they'd get with heaps of first year students. I would easily give 5 stars if the final exam were better, but since it was half my grade, I'd give the unit 3/5.

I'm an English Major and this unit honestly made me want to be a lawyer. I'm not going to keep doing Business Law units for other reasons, but the unit was so interesting and fun. Great organisation of the tutes and lectures. Was never confused about what we were expected to do or anything. My tutor Fiona was so helpful and the way she explained things was so accessible and super interesting/engaging. Highly recommend!

Extremely well structured unit. There is quite a lot of content to learn but the weekly tutorial exercises helped me fully grasp and understand the concepts, as well as prepare me me for my final exam. Sagi is an amazing and engaging unit coordinator/ lecturer and his lectures are not only fun to watch but he makes the topics so much easier to comprehend. Really recommend this unit!!!!!!

Absolutely love this unit. Very well structured and the lecturers and tutors are incredibly helpful. The content is a lot, but not hard concepts to grasp and definitely not as much as other units I've done. Very enjoyable and has made me a lot more interested in pursuing law

Overall a very rewarding unit but as mentioned in other reviews, it requires a lot of time and effort. Lectures were always good, tutorials really helped (my tutor was fantastic!). There is a lot of content but you can do well if you apply yourself.
