Dr. Rubin is one of the best communicators there is. A truly stellar lecturer and an incredible human being, Rubin got me through what was initially a very challenging unit. Rubin was able to command the classroom with such effortlessness - a true "class" (hur hur) act.

literally the only criticism i have is Rubin uses American spelling - otherwise the best professor I've had

Really enjoyable and a great introduction to philosophy if you haven't really studied it before. Rubin is easily one of the best lecturers and UCs I've had over several years at UWA. If you're looking for an elective I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

A very fun and interesting unit that anyone can enjoy. Prof. Rubin is such an engaging lecturer, making the content easy to understand. Although the weekly readings can be difficult to interpret at times and a tad long, that should not deter you from picking this unit.

A perfect unit. I think everyone should do it! So well organised and easy to follow from start to finish. Fascinating, relevant and really well presented with some humour from Prof. Rubin. If you understand the lecture content the exam is really fair. Couldn't recommend it more.

Rubin is probably the best lecturer you’ll have for your entire undergrad. The unit itself is a great introduction to philosophy. From the curious beginner to the already philosophically inclined, students of all levels will find something valuable in this unit.

Professor Rubin has to be the best lecturer I've had at uni so far. Highly recommend this unit, the content was really interesting.

Rubin is an excellent & engaging lecturer, & also one of the best I have come across so far. If you find the content interesting it will be an enjoyable unit, but if you don’t find it interesting it can feel a bit overwhelming. The readings are long & quite confusing, but become clearer after attending lectures. The multiple choice exam is short & can help to bring up your grade if you did poorly in the essay.
