Loved this class

We had 4 insanely difficult quizzes this term. Some questions were written vaguely, occasionally incoherently or with spelling errors or formatting errors. Luckily they were only worth 20% of the final grade, but I felt pretty cheated out of these marks, in general, as my other results were much higher for all the written assessments. A very heavy unit with many submissions (3 writing tasks, 4 online quizzes, a referencing quiz, an essay draft, which was marked, and a final essay). It was still a helpful unit, but an abundance of helpful information was presented haphazardly (like on the fb page). Much of the quizzes focussed on sentence structure and phrases, and we spent zero time on this during our 2 hour weekly tutorials. Good for those who need help with essay writing, but tried to cram too much into one course. It could have been better to either focus on grammar, or on cohesive thought/essay writing.

It was like learning English in high school again, except in a more sophisticated level. Prepare to writes lots of essays and upgrade your summary skills. It takes effort to achieve high marks, but it is doable even for newbie if you're willing to try.

A brilliant unit! Lectures were always entertaining and interesting. My tutor was incredible. She was so engaging and a delivered the lessons creatively which enhanced learning. I attended all lectures and tutorials and achieved a distinction for the unit.

A great unit to get the basics of essay writing. My tutor was awesome.

Helpful for building easy skills. Having said that, this unit only teaches the very basic that you should already know from high school. I feel it should be a bit more advanced.

This unit was great. It was a good idea to revisit literacy terms that are important to not only master but, also bring in with us into our teaching practices. The tutor I had was very approachable and helpful. I found this unit very interesting and worthwhile.

Great first unit which helped with essay writing and our tutor was very entertaining!
