The lectures were inconsistent with their engagement with the students. As a core unit I didn't find it overly helpful toward my degree.

One of the dumbest uits I've ever taken. Marking is very biased. Too bad it's a core for social and cultural analysis.....

Trash subjected, marking system was so silly and old content :'(

I really enjoyed going to the lectures for this subject as the information was unlike any other subject I had been exposed to before. The marking was quite hard and I wasn't particularly happy with my marks initially buy studied hard over the last few weeks to remember key theorists and points and ended up receiving 95 in the exam, bringing my average up from a D to a HD. Quite a few difficult concepts to grasp and A LOT of content, but the exam was 2 weeks after semester finished so plenty of time to review theorists and key points for the exam. It is important to establish what your tutor wants from you before writing essays as marking seems to vary a fair bit from other units.

Sometimes this unit had odd concepts but overall it was fairly interesting. The only problem I found was that the lecturer when I did the unit was quite drab. He basically read off paper which was not engaging at all.
