Decent subject. Not many contact times though.

I really enjoyed this subject! It covers key cases that have shaped the contemporary Australian landscape, examining them from a social and legal point of view. It is interesting to compare and contrast what happens inside the courtroom with the public reception of each trial. You also learn key legal concepts along the way, and develop the ability to comprehend legal sources (i.e. legislation and court judgments). I personally enjoyed the legal aspect because it built upon my previous knowledge. My single critique would be that the assessments ask you to research one trial, which doesn’t allow you to demonstrate the effort you put into understanding the other trials covered. All in all, an excellent subject that I would reccomend to anyone interested in law and trials!

I would highly recommend this subject for students who are thinking of applying for law but not sure if they'll like it. A very good introduction to what studying law is like.
