Actually not bad. I would say LA is easier than Calc2, content-wise. The tutes are normal with helpful tutors to actually go around and let you know what you're doing wrong. The Labs, are in the computer rooms where you sit on MatLab with a bunch of others for an hour or so and figure out why its more complicated than it needs to be. The MST is alright, the MATLAB test is harder - time wise. The exam was pretty hard imo. There were 3 lecturers Christine, Christian and Paul. Christine was pretty good, subject coordinator quite clear. Christian is left handed so that got in front of the paper a lot but alright and Paul was also alright.

Nice subject! It is useful in many areas like machine learning, probability & statistics, differential equations,... So highly recommended if you're in STEM. Assignments are good and the exam is fair!

I did this subject with Peter Forrester in summer semester and really enjoyed it. Much more conceptually interesting than calc 1 and 2, and felt like getting a conceptual/visual understanding of all the different concepts really helped with doing the problems. I like getting a teensy intro to proofs, axioms etc too

Grade: 90+ Do it in summer if you want good marks, the exam is much easier than the normal semester. However it comes at the cost of having to trudge your way through a course that is pretty content heavy in a relatively short period of time. Personally I found this subject fairly interesting, I liked the proof aspects and at the very least it was more interesting than the incredibly boring computations of Calc 1 and 2. I had James as my tutor and he was pretty great, very helpful and enthusiastic during tutorials. Overall, if you keep up with the content and do the tutorial sheets, and do some questions from the trickier parts of the course from the problem booklet (don't bother trudging through the million computational based questions and skip questions liberally), and do a couple recent past exams, then you will be fine since they design the exam to be very accessible provided that you paid attention, with minimal curveball questions (there were like 2 curveballs the entire exam).

I really enjoyed Linear Algebra. It is an extremely valuable subject for future studies in both mathematics and engineering. Both my lecturer and tutor were incredibly helpful and thorough, and always made sure everyone was keeping up to date and following along. Assessment was tricky but manageable if you are willing to put in the work.

Good introduction to 'pure' style maths. Content can get a bit dry after the first few weeks but the content itself is quite easy. Just stay on top of things and you'll get a H1 easily.

Not a bad subject, a bit abstract but it was okay. The exam was absolutely brutal, not sure why they suddenly amped up the exam difficulty so much as it was closed book and closely surveillanced. Christine is a really good lecturer but I can't say the same about the other lecturer who had a heavy accent. His working on the lecture notes seemed to have been all over the place, a good reflection of his lecturing style in general, which is quite jumpy.

Definitely abstract but you can definitely do well if you put in the work. I really enjoyed part of the coursework was on MATLAB (although MATLAB has its own flaws :///). The content can seem a bit dry until you get to eigenvectors though.
