Reviews
The lecturers were probably the worst aspect of the course - neither were fantastic. Fortunately the course was well organised and independent work was easy to do. The quizzes throughout semester are pretty easy as well and neither of the assignments were too challenging. I would suggest utilising the online resources as best as you can - lectures notes, tutorial sheets, practice exams make it pretty easy to keep up with the unit without putting in insane amounts of work or effort.

So well organised and perfectly paced!! assignments are challenging but nowhere near impossible and quizzes are only 5 questions each.

This unit was fairly simple in the beginning, going over concepts you learn in year 10. But don't be fooled by the simplicity, it gets harder by 4/5th week. Keep up with the lectures, and have a go at the tutorial sheets to understand what the tutor is explaining during tutorials. Don't leave things till later, you must understand each weeks work to understand the following weeks content.

Don't underestimate this subject. It starts out very basic, with means, medians, modes, etc. Then before you know it you're looking at binomial distributions and t-tests. If you don't pay attention the whole way through you'll quickly get lost! #1 Tip: Structure your learning around deciding which test to apply. You're usually given the formulas you need in the exam -- it's more about instantly knowing which one to use than remembering the formula itself.

Not such a bad course

A great subject if you are looking for a non-calculus alternative to the USYD 3 cp maths units. Keep up with the tutorial sheets and do past exams, you will do well.

This is a fantastic unit for those who aren't so good with maths. Most of the questions involve interpreting information and using appropriate supplied formulas so in that regard it is a bit easier. If you can focus during the semester and keep up with whats happening then it is a very easy unit to get great marks in.

If you keep up to date you will do well! Sharon is a great lecturer, breaks the content down simply and is engaging

Lectures were alright although my lecturer was super boring and tended to drag things out. Had an amazing tutor though which was good. Course content can be a little challenging if stats isn't your thing, but once you figure it out it's alright. Weekly quizzes were a bother but forced us to keep up to date and the assignment was fine.

Content is simple if you ensure that you keep up to date with everything. Otherwise it is very difficult.
