Reviews

The reason why I changed my second major from mgmt to mktg. Assessments are quite straightforward and interesting, but only if you like stats and analysing data. If you follow the lectures, ask help when needed, and do all the assessments properly, you will do very well.

Greg is an awesome lecturer who breaks down concepts and gives a lot of practical examples that are highly relevant to real-life marketing research. Having Greg as my lecturer really gave me the feeling of the industry and what I would expect as a marketing researcher. The assessments in this unit are highly applicable to the real-life. Covid-19 was definitely not the end of this unit as Greg and my tutor, Alastair were able to deliver this unit in the best way possible. Hands down one of the best units that I've done. Highly recommended as an elective unit, but of course, you would have to do level 1 marketing first which I'm sure you will be able to pull it off.

Nature of the statistics can be a bit boring but the unit is organised very well. Lecturer and tutors are helpful and useful. Concepts can be easy to grasped if you practice using SPSS often and interpret them. Not an overly stressful unit but not a cruisy unit either.

Uwana is great lecturer, very enthusiastic and approachable - tbh probably the best thing about the unit. The unit does have statistics in it and the tutorials do not really help with your understanding of the statistics/ marketing research, as a lot of the information is dictated to you and you cannot really ask questions, as you are trying to keep up with following instructions to use the SPSS data in the lab and the structure of the sentences. It is a compulsory unit if you are taking marketing major. I would suggest you do not miss a lab, otherwise you will quickly fall behind and struggle in the exam. Thankfully the recap revision lecture outlined a lot of what was in the exam - so that made is easier. Try and get a good group, as there is a large report required (25+ pages) and recorded presentation.

Unit was run really well and everything seemed super organised thanks to Uwana. Very similar to STAT1520 so I would suggest doing stats prior or in conjunction with the MKTG unit.
